Impact: The award winning manual commissioned by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council provides developers, planners and designers with guiding principles, practical guidance and case studies to help them, in an integrated, balanced and effective way, reduce crimes and potentially harmful effects on individuals and society.

Sustainability Rating Systems
Driving sustainable development in the Middle East
1) Mostadam: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
2) Estidama: United Arab Emirates
Impact: Estidama was transformational to the development of Abu Dhabi, as Mostadam will be for villas and communities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These systems provide targets, allow benchmarking of projects and incentivise sustainable development that delivers a range of economic, environmental, cultural and social benefits.

SABRE - Security Rating System
Improving security outcomes and recognising and rewarding best practice
Location: United Kingdom
Impact: SABRE is a new 3rd party certification scheme delivered by BRE. Like BREEAM, its sustainability equivalent, the scheme was developed to provide end users, developers and the construction supply chain with the ability to measure, compare and enhance the performance of buildings in use and establish performance targets for new construction.
Importantly, for the first time, SABRE allows organisations to evidence their commitment to security and communicate their ability to manage security risks. This provides valuable assurance to tenants, insurers, investors, regulators, planning authorities and other interested parties.
